Module 08: Rhythmic / Melodic Reading & Writing II
Module Description:
This Module has a duration of 2 semesters and consists of two courses, Rhythmic Reading and Writing II and Melodic Reading II. The contact teaching time for each course is 90 minutes per week and is evaluated through graded practical and written/aural exams at the end of each semester.
Total Credit Points: 12
Learning Outcome:
They will be able to read ternary meters rhythmically, read and understand rhythmic modulations, read swing 8ths, shuffle 16ths and Xtuplets using divisions of 5, 7 and 9,
They will know how to read and interpret a chart or lead sheet.
They will be able to read and play ternary melodic notation in treble and bass clef (3/4, 6/8, 12/8, 6/4 and 3/2).
They will be able to read intermediate arrangements including metric modulations and make intermediate melodic transcriptions in both binary and ternary forms.
